Giran Castle Town — the square everyone photographed and met in before every chronicle rework.
Why this place sticks
Giran Castle Town was the social feed before social feeds: shops, crowds, fashion screenshots, and “LFG” spam. If your hard drive has one L2 photo, there’s a decent chance it’s Giran.
How Giran changed over the chronicles
Towns on Live weren’t static — NCSoft rebuilt zones when the main story moved. Here’s the editorial map of which era changed what, and the lore reason when we know it.

The trade capital everyone photographed
Giran Castle Town was the social network: shops lining the square, crowds at the gate, fashion screenshots, and ‘meet at Giran’ in every chat. If your clan had adena, you showed it off here.
Lore behind the change
Giran sat at the heart of Aden’s economy in the early chronicles — close to luxury hunting, the castle, and the sea routes that made it the default meet-up.

High Five kept Giran’s role as the default trade city while surrounding zones and hunting meta shifted. Veterans still logged off in Giran even when Oren or Aden was technically ‘progression.’
Unlike Talking Island, Giran wasn’t wiped from the map — but Live patches still reworked outskirts, interfaces, and surrounding zones. Compare a 2006 screenshot to today and the silhouette is familiar; the details are not.
Lore behind the change
Later sagas used Giran as a stable anchor while other regions carried the big lore resets — but NCSoft still refreshed art and adjacent hunting grounds patch by patch.
