How Devastated Castle changed over the chronicles

Towns on Live weren’t static — NCSoft rebuilt zones when the main story moved. Here’s the editorial map of which era changed what, and the lore reason when we know it.

1. Classic · contested clan hall

   A castle-shaped hall, not a siege target

   Devastated Castle sat north of the Field of Massacre looking every bit a ruined keep — but ownership ran as a contested clan hall. Clans registered with Messenger Loken, cleared NPC defenders, and raced total damage on Gustav. Winners got temporary hall functions (teleports, buffs, creation, sometimes wyvern access), then faced the next cycle. Not on the nine-keep Sunday siege calendar.

   Lore behind the change

   Often remembered beside “real” castles in screenshot folders; rules-wise it was a temporary hall contest, not royal/vassal castle warfare.
